Bradford City Supporters Board announce official partnership with Community Foundation

The Bradford City Supporters Board are delighted to announce the launch of an official partnership with the Bradford City FC Community Foundation.

As part of the move, the Supporters Board will recognise the Foundation as its official charity partner, and will see the two organisations work together on a range of initiatives aimed at making a difference to the lives of people across the Bradford district.

The Bradford City Community Foundation is a registered charity, led by City legend Ian Ormondroyd. Established in 1988, with Ormondroyd taking over leadership in 1999, the Foundation encompasses a wide sporting and community-focused influence. In its current form the Foundation works across multiple community initiatives, partnering with fellow sports clubs’ foundations and social development schemes such as the National Citizen Service (NCS) and the Peer Action Collective (PAC), as well as the Premier League’s Kicks and Primary Stars initiatives aimed at encouraging young people to develop confidence and responsibility in their community. The Foundation also oversees the delivery of the club’s Football & Education programme, as well as the Girls’ development team. The Foundation also owns and runs the City Hub, which opened last year, and acts as an invaluable resource for community engagement, gathering, social outreach and pre-match refreshments.

Supporters Board Vice-Chair, Wayne Robinson, commented: “The Bradford City Supporters Board are proud to announce an official link up with the Bradford City FC Community Foundation. As well as championing the views of supporters in our regular meetings with the club, the Supporters Board has a long history of undertaking value-adding initiatives projects aimed at making a difference to the club, supporter base and community.  Our partnership with the community Foundation will see the board focus our wider efforts in supporting the outstanding work of the foundation in the local community.”

Mr Robinson continued: “During our discussions with Ian Ormondroyd, CEO of the Bradford City Community Foundation, we were hugely inspired by the variety of projects being managed by the team and the sheer number of people across the district being helped by their work. It quickly became clear that the two organisations share many of the same values and aims and that the Supporters Board would like to commit to help raise awareness and drive volunteer engagement from amongst the supporter base to assist the Foundations work”.

Ian Ormondroyd, CEO of the Bradford City FC Community Foundation, added: “I’m delighted that the Supporters Board have linked with the Bradford City FC Community Foundation as their main charity partner. I can see that the partnership will be of great benefit to both the Board and the Foundation.
